Forfeiting your Soul

There are several verses in the Bible where Jesus Christ defines the choices we face in life. We must choose between the path that leads to eternal life or the road that forfeits our souls for the tempations of the world. Here are the options Jesus identifies that will change our lives forever, one way or the other:

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24)

Options: A) Value money; B) Value God and He alone.

“What does it profit a man to gain the world but forfeit his soul? (Mark 8:36)

Options: A) Focus on gaining worldly treasures; B) Focus on winning heaven.

“Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching.’” (John 14:23)

Options: A) Don’t obey the teachings of Christ means losing God’s love; B) Obey the teachings of Christ and God loves you and will make a home for you.

“For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” (John 6:40)

Options: A) Not believing that Jesus is the Son of God means not being raised up on the last day; B) Believe that Jesus is the Son of God and be raised up on the last day.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Options: A) Not following Jesus is to perish in death; B) Following Jesus is the path to eternal life.

Life is about choices. Choose God over money, choose heaven over earth, choose to obey the teachings of Jesus, choose Jesus as the Son of God, choose the promise of everlasting life.

Our life is the vessel that leads to eternity in God’s heavenly kingdom with the right choices.

Don’t forfeit your soul. Choose God.
